The Peer Specialist Program provides assistance to individuals with mental health issues. The program will assist them in their own recovery process. Peer Specialists are former recipients of mental health services and have empathy and special understanding of their peers due to their personal experiences. They have received specific training so they can assist peers in basic living skills and link them to needed services. A Peer Specialist provides personalized linkages to services and assists individuals in the development of skills related to living independently. To participate in the program you must be 18 years of age or older, be a Niagara County resident and be diagnosed with mental illness(es) or be in the process of seeking therapeutic services.
